Slaughtneil made it back-to-back Ulster club senior hurling championship titles thanks to a comprehensive 0-23 to 0-10 victory against St John’s at the Box-It Athletic Grounds this evening.
The Derry champions kept it to script as they landed their sixth provincial senior hurling crown in eight years at the Armagh venue.
The holders settled in well with a couple of early scores from Shea Cassidy, Se McGuigan and Cormac O’Doherty and went on to open up a four-point advantage through Cassidy’s free.
A wonderful score on the counter-attack from Cathal Ó Mianáin restores Slaughtneil's five-point advantage...

Oisin McManus kept the Belfast side in touch with his frees, with the scoreboard reading 0-9 to 0-5 come half-time, but through Brendan Rogers and O’Doherty (free) it’d be a six-point game within a dozen minutes of the second-half.
McManus and O’Doherty traded frees back and forth ahead of Chrissy McKaigue sailing one over from play for Slaughtneil and they’d eventually move into a double figures lead after additional scores from O’Doherty and McKaigue.
Oisín McManus has eight of St John's nine points - but this Ulster final might be slipping away from the Antrim champs...

Two more O’Doherty frees and a point from Proinsias Burke rounded off the 13-point victory for Slaughtneil as they retained their provincial crown and now get set to meet Loughrea of Galway for a place in the All-Ireland club SHC final.
