Upperchurch-Drombane (Tipperary) produced the goods in the second-half to defeat 12-man O'Callaghan's Mills (Clare) by 3-20 to 0-15 at TUS Gaelic Grounds this evening to capture the Munster club intermediate hurling championship title.

After having edged a 0-11 to 0-10 lead at half-time, the Tipperary champions pushed three ahead before netting the game’s first goal through Conor Fahey in the 49th minute.

Both Jacob Loughnane and Conor Henry had been sent off for O'Callaghan's Mills some 10 minutes beforehand, with the floodgates opening up once Fahey raised the green flag as more goals would follow via Paddy Phelan and Colm Ryan.

The Clare champions had led by two points midway through the first-half before a brace from Aaron Ryan levelled up matters and it went tit for tat for the remainder of the opening period until Luke Shanahan’s sent Upperchurch-Drombane in with the minimum advantage at the interval.

The second-half would see O'Callaghan's Mills’ Munster title hopes evaporate as they were outscored by 3-9 to 0-5, with their third red carded being issued late on.

After becoming Tipp's first Munster club IHC winners in 13 years, Upperchurch-Drombane now get set to face the winners of Ratoath (Meath) and Danesfort (Kilkenny) in the All-Ireland semi-finals in three weeks’ time.
