Former Kildare footballer and selector Ross Glavin has been appointed as the new Maynooth senior football manager.

The Moorefield clubman is already familiar with the Maynooth players after being brought in on an interim basis midway through last season after Declan McCabe stepped away. The new management also includes former Maynooth and Kildare star Karl Ennis, and ex-Carlow footballer Padraig Murphy.

Maynooth reached the Kildare SFC Preliminary quarter-final this year, only to come up short against the aforementioned Moorefield. They also lost the Division 1 League semi-final to Naas.

Glavin’s appointment comes as the north Kildare club officially opened their new dressing rooms and walkway this week. The official opening was performed by Charlie McConalogue, Minister of State at the Department of Sport, and club president Tommy Fay, last Tuesday evening.
