Mayo champions Ballina Stephenites will face St Brigid’s of Roscommon in the semi-finals of the Connacht senior club football championship after seeing off North London Shamrocks by 1-15 to 0-10 in Bekan this evening.
Having claimed a third successive Paddy Moclair Cup thanks to their county final replay win over Westport two weeks ago, Ballina came in as hot favourites in this one but would be pushed all the way by their London counterparts at the Connacht GAA Centre of Excellence, where late two-pointers saw them over the line in the end.
Despite conceding a goal midway through the first-half, the Shamrocks stayed with their opponents with the help of scores from Joe McGill ahead of David Tighe’s point sending Stephenites in with a 1-6 to 0-7 half-time lead.

NLS got it level through Michael Miller after the change of ends and came close to hitting the front prior to Rory Morrin hitting the post and Tighe doing the same at the other end.
Frank Irwin nailed an important two-pointer for Ballina after that and Ben Thornton would land another prior to Sam Callinan and skipper Evan Regan rounding off their winning tally to set a provincial last four showdown with St Brigid’s next Saturday.
