Dunloy manager Anthony McQuillan is anticipating a tough battle against Newbridge in tomorrow evening’s Ulster club SFC preliminary round clash in Owebeg (6pm).
McQuillan’s men captured their club’s first Antrim senior football championship crown in 89 years after they defeated holders Cargin by 3-12 to 2-8 three weeks ago.
They now get set to take on the back-to-back Derry champions in the sides’ provincial opener this weekend and, speaking to BelfastLive.co.uk, says his side are expecting a tight encounter with the Sean O’Learys club.
“I was reading a few reports during the year and people were saying Newbridge won’t win two-in-a-row - I thought that was madness,” he stated.
“How could a young team win a championship and then not be counted the following year?
“They are definitely a good side. They're very fast, very direct, very quick. They're going to be a hard team to play against on Saturday.
“But we just have to prepare ourselves the best we can and be ready for them.”
