The Galway SHC final between Loughrea and St Thomas’ will be played under the new floodlights in Pearse Stadium on Saturday week, November 1 at 6pm.
It comes after the semi-finals were played as a double-header at the Salthill venue last Saturday night. The decision to also play the decider at Pearse Stadium hasn’t gone well with many supporters who would rather see it played in its traditional home of Kenny Park, Athenry on a Sunday afternoon, while others have an issue with playing hurling under lights due to the high speed and small size of the sliotar.
The Galway SFC final between Moycullen and Salthill-Knocknacarra will also be played under lights at Pearse Stadium this Saturday at 7.30pm.
