Na Piarsaigh captured their third Limerick senior hurling championship title in four years with a 2-25 to 2-18 victory (AET) over holders Doon at the TUS Gaelic Grounds this evening.

In a repeat of last year’s SHC decider in the Treaty County, it was the city side that came to the fore on this occasion as Conor Boylan’s late goal forced extra time for them and they control in the added periods with points from Keith Dempsey, Boylan, Adrian Breen, Ronan Lynch and Peter Casey before storming to their ninth title.

The sides were honours even at the end of first-half normal time (0-10 to 1-7), with Dean Coleman netting the goal for Doon, who secured their first John Daly Cup success last year and were keen on making it back-to-back titles here.

The sides exchanges points back and forth in the second-half, with Na Piarsaigh leading by one before Darragh Donovan crashed in Doon’s second goal in the 56th minute.

There’s still be time for last year’s runners up to level it and they did through Boylan, leaving it at 2-17 to 2-17 when the full-time whistle sounded, and extra time would see eight-time champions hit the ground running.

After landing the first five points of the extra periods, Na Piarsaigh saw their opponents pulling back scores through Adam English prior to the scores of Casey and Daithi Dempsey putting a seal on their sweet seven-point win.
