Conor Geaney’s first-half goal proved the difference as Dingle recorded a 1-16 to 0-16 win over Mid Kerry in Tralee this afternoon to advance to the Kerry senior football championship final.
Dingle, who saw AFL player Mark O'Connor starting for them wearing number 24, were 0-8 to 0-4 behind when Geaney crashed in the game’s only goal in the 24th minute and the points of Brian O’Connor and Dylan Geaney would help them to lead by 1-6 to 0-8 come the interval.
Conor Geaney and Niall Geaney grew the Dingle lead with two-pointers midway through the first-half prior to a couple of Keith Evans points cutting Mid Kerry’s deficit back to a goal.
Another one from beyond the arc by Conor Geaney would be backed up by a Tom O’Sullivan point, increasing the Dingle lead to six with four minutes left in normal time.
Ciaran Kennedy (two-pointer) and Darren Houlihan got back scores for the trailers, but Dingle weren’t going to be denied here as they returned to the same final stage where they were defeated by Dr Crokes on last year.
Padriag Corcoran’s men now get set to face 2021 champions Austin Stacks in the Bishop Moynihan Cup decider, with the Tralee club having saw off Rathmore by 1-16 to 1-9 yesterday.
