St Finbarr’s moved into the semi-finals of the Cork Premier senior hurling championship thanks to a 3-16 to 1-12 win over holders Imokilly in Midleton.
Brian Hayes, Jack Cahalane and John Wigginton-Barrett supplied the winners’ goals as they built on a 1-10 to 1-15 lead at half-time to cut loose in the second-half and win out by double digits in the end.
Champions in 2022, St Finbarr’s are now set to face 2023 winners Sarsfields in the semi-finals after the latter recorded a 0-22 to 1-15 win against Charleville this afternoon, with Colm McCarthy and Jack O’Connor combining for 0-13 over the hour for Sars.
The other semi-final showdown in the Rebel County sees Blackrock taking on a Midleton side which came from behind to defeat Glen Rovers on a 2-19 to 2-17 scoreline at Pairc Ui Rinn on Friday night.
Meanwhile, the competition’s relegation final is set to go to a replay after Turlough O’Neill’s late goal saved Newtownshandrum a 2-21 to 4-15 draw with Erins Own.
