Cargin manager Ronan Devlin says he was never swayed by inter-county managerial and coaching vacancies as his focus remains on guiding the Erin’s Own club to a fourth consecutive Antrim SFC title.

Devlin’s name had been linked with the recent senior football managerial posts in both Antrim and Derry this summer, with both positions having since been filled by Mark Doran and Ciaran Meenagh respectively.

Speaking to BelfastLive.co.uk, Devlin said that his head was never turned by other positions as his main focus stays on Cargin’s latest championship quest.

“No, absolutely not. To be honest, it wouldn't really be something I'd welcome because I wouldn't want to take my eye off this,” he said after his side booked their place in the Antrim SFC quarter-finals with a 4-14 to 1-11 win over St John’s.

“You know, if I started looking at something else. . . if I messed up here, I would blame myself forever. So I'd rather just get this job done.

“And our job, I hope it goes on for months and months.”
