John Cleary is remaining on as Cork senior football manager for another two years.

The Castlehaven man was reappointed at last night's county board meeting after his initial three-year term ended with Cork's All-Ireland SFC preliminary quarter-final loss to Dublin on June 21. The Rebels exited the championship at the same stage last year following a last-gasp defeat to Louth. He initially took charge of the team on an interim basis from Keith Ricken in 2022 before assuming the role full-time.

Cleary will lead Cork into next year's Munster SFC in the knowledge that they will be on the opposite side of the draw to Kerry following last weekend's controversial decision to reintroduce seeding.

His backroom team will be announced at the next board meeting in September when Pat Ryan is also expected to be handed another term as hurling boss.
