The 2025 Limerick senior hurling championship gets underway this evening when league champions Kilmallock and Patrickswell meet in Newcastlewest at 7pm.

Both sides reached the semi-finals of last year’s competition, which Doon went on to win for the first time in their history after defeating Na Piarsaigh in the final (0-16 to 2-9).

The holders are set to meet the same opposition in a repeat of the 2024 decider on Saturday evening in Kilmallock (7pm) for their opener, with the other Group 1 Round 1 fixture seeing Ahane up against Ballybrown in Claughan (3pm) on the same day.

Group 2’s opener sees Monaleen and Adare clashing in Fedamore (7pm) this evening, with Mungret St Paul’s and Newcastlewest on at the same time tomorrow evening at Mick Neville Park, while Saturday evening sees Ballyagran hosting the meeting of Kildimo-Pallaskenry and Dromin/Athlacca (7pm).
