Former Tipperary star Shane McGrath feels that a potential appeal against by Dublin over the red card Chris Crummey received against Limerick would be a waste of time.

Crummey received his marching orders 15 minutes into the capital men’s sensational upset over the Shannonsiders at Croke Park last Saturday following a high challenge on opponent Gearoid Hegarty.

While some questioned the amount of contact made in the challenge, McGrath says that there is no chance of a potential appeal to the player’s red card being successful.

"He’s not playing in the semi-final," the 2010 All-Ireland winner said on the RTÉ GAA podcast.

"I’d be contradicting myself if I said he should get away with it when I was saying during the league that these head high tackles (need to stop).

"I suppose you’re putting yourself in a situation that you don’t want to.

"It was just a moment thing. As soon as the elbow went up, no more so than when Darragh McCarthy’s hurley went up against Cork, he was getting sent off."
