Kildare and Fermanagh joined Limerick and Wicklow in the quarter-finals of the Tailteann Cup after recording respective wins this afternoon.
The Lilywhites held off a comeback from Sligo to score a 4-19 to 1-24 victory at Dr Hyde Park to advance into the second tier’s last eight.
Goals from Daniel Flynn, James McGrath and Alex Beirne helped Brian Flanagan’s men to hold a commanding 3-11 to 1-7 lead at the half, but Sligo were able to get back to within two points with help of scores from Niall Murphy and Pat Spillane.
Kildare ultimately held out for win which means the Yeats men go into the preliminary quarter-finals with home advantage, as do Westmeath, Offaly and Wexford.

Wexford went down to Fermanagh in a 0-25 to 1-17 defeat at Croke Park, where Conor Love starred for the Ernesiders with 0-8, as they kicked it up a gear in the closing quarter to see off the Model men who had led by 1-8 to 0-9 at the halfway stage following Sean Nolan’s early goal.
A 1-20 to 1-15 win for Longford over Carlow in Tullamore wasn’t enough for the Midlanders to progress, as Joe Murphy’s men will now travel for their preliminary quarter-final, with Antrim set to do the same after they came from behind to defeat London by 1-22 to 1-14 in Newry.
Meanwhile, Leitrim signed off for 2025 with their first win of the season after seeing off Tipperary by 3-9 to 0-10 at TEG Cusack Park, where Jack Flynn, Tom Prior and Joe McGloin netted the goals for the Connacht men.
The draws for the competition’s preliminary quarter-finals are set to take place this evening at 6.15pm.
