A sensational injury-time goal from Lee Chin proved the difference as Wexford snatched a 2-17 to 1-17 win against Offaly in Round 4 of the Leinster senior hurling championship.

Offaly had been the better side in the first-half at Chadwicks Wexford Park, netting a Brian Duignan goal seven minutes in before shipping one at the other end from Kevin Foley and eventually moving towards a 1-10 to 1-6 half-time lead.

Dan Bourke stretched the Faithful men’s lead three minutes into the resumption, but the hosts would close the gap thanks to points from Conor Hearne, Chin (free), Cian Byrne, Cian Molloy and Jack O’Connor.

Offaly moved out to two-point lead again ahead of Cathal Dunbar and Rory O’Connor raising white flags that squared it for the Slaneysiders and a Conor McDonald point in the first minute of injury-time surged them in front for the first time.

A minute later and Chin would be fed through by McDonald before sending a rocket to the corner of Offaly’s net, sealing victory for Wexford and condemning their opponents to a fourth straight defeat in the process.
