Cavan are through to the Lory Meagher Cup final after recording a 3-29 to 3-17 victory over neighbours Longford at Glennon Bros Pearse Park this afternoon.
After having conceded a Micheál Mulcahy goal inside the first five minutes, Ollie Bellew’s side eventually settled in with a goal of their own from Jack Barry being backed up by another major via Eamon Og McAllister.
From there, the Breffni men ran up a 10-point lead and goaled again on the eve half-time through Sean Keating to go in with a 3-20 to 1-10 advantage.
Longford bagged two goals in the second-half but they’d end up being in vain, and they’ll now have to defeat Monaghan in their next outing to keep their hopes of winning the competition alive.
Monaghan saw off Lancashire by 4-15 to 2-14 in Abbotstown for their third win in four games, handing the Exiles their fourth straight loss in the process.
