Johnny Doyle set a personal best time of 3.05:18 in last Sunday’s Belfast Marathon.
The Kildare legend announced his retirement from club football at the age of 46 last September after his beloved Allenwood were knocked out of the Kildare SFC by Athy, but is still going as strong as ever, albeit in a different sport.
One of his county’s greatest ever players, Doyle won Leinster SFC honours with the Lilywhites in 2000 and an All-Star in 2010 before announcing his inter-county retirement in 2014.
Over the next decade, he continued to excel for Allenwood and helped them to county and Leinster club IFC titles in 2023 to add to the SFC medal he won with them in 2004.
