Armagh manager Kieran McGeeney says he was delighted with his team’s composure in the closing stages of yesterday’s Ulster SFC semi-final victory over Tyrone.
With the All-Ireland champions having led for over 50 minutes in Clones, a rally from the Red Hands saw them go up by 0-22 to 0-20 with seven minutes remaining ahead of points from Jarly Og Burns, Stefan Campbell and a free from Rory Grugan won by Conor Turbitt snatching Armagh the win.
Speaking to RTE Sport afterwards, McGeeney said his players “showed their coolness” to earn the result that puts them into a third consecutive Ulster final.
"It’s good, disappointed maybe the way the game sort of petered out for us, a lot of things seemed to go against us in those last 20 minutes," said the Orchard boss.
"But the boys kept their cool, which was a credit to them, to be able to take the scores.
"The two most important scores, Soupy (Campbell) and Turbo (Turbitt), fellas coming off the bench and haven’t had much game-time recently, so we’re really happy.
"They showed their coolness in the end but I thought over the 70 minutes we played pretty decent football and just maybe shouldn’t have gotten ourselves in that position at the end."
