Tyrone produced an impressive second-half display to record a 3-15 to 0-11 victory over Down in last night’s Ulster U20 football championship opener in Burren.
It was Conor O’Neill’s goal in the 17th minute that saw the Red Hands staying right in touch, as the scoreboard read 0-7 to 1-4 at half-time, before a Liam Óg Mossey goal early in the restart really got the visitors motoring.
The holders registered their third goal in the 50th minute to all but settle the issue, with the second-half seeing them outscore their Mourne counterparts by 2-8 to 0-4.

In Enniskillen, Donegal proved too strong for Fermanagh as they handed the hosts a 10-point defeat on opening night.
It finished 1-18 to 1-8 at Brewster Park, where the Ernesiders made a promising start via an early Mattie McDermott goal but the visitors edged ahead before striking their own major through captain Sean Martin.
That would put them on the path to a 1-10 to 1-4 interval lead and, while Fermanagh trimmed their deficit down to four points, the scores of Conor McCahill late on ensured the victory for the Tir Chonaill lads.
