Kilkenny bounced back from last weekend’s nine-point loss to Tipperary by seeing off Limerick by the same margin this afternoon to move up to third in the Allianz Hurling League Division 1A table.
It finished 0-29 to 0-20 at UPMC Nowlan Park, where the hosts enjoyed a superb opening half before kicking on for a comfortable victory which ensures that both Clare and Wexford will be playing their league hurling in Division 1B next season, while Tipperary are also into the Division 1A final.

The Leinster champions held a 0-9 to 0-4 lead after 20 minutes and the points of Fionan MacKessy, Cian Kenny and Martin Keoghan would help them keep their foot on the throttle towards a commanding 0-18 to 0-7 lead come half-time.
TJ Reid’s free put a dozen between the sides in the opening minute of the restart before Limerick worked on cutting down the deficit.
Adam English, Aidan O'Connor and David Reidy were among the scorers for John Kiely’s side as they would go on to trim their arrears to four points with 10 minutes to go.
However, the scores of Reid and Keoghan steadied the Cats’ ship prior to the excellent John Donnelly and Keoghan rounding off their winning tally.
