Mayo are a win away from promotion to Division 2 of the Allianz Hurling League after seeing off Armagh by 3-21 to 1-18 at the BOX-IT Athletic Grounds this afternoon.
Joe Burke’s goal helped the visitors to edge a 1-10 to 1-9 lead at the end of the first-half and the third quarter would be airtight until the Westerners eventually turned the screw.
A goal from Cormac Phillips put them four up and another major from Shane Boland late on well and truly settled the issue as Armagh were handed their third defeat.
The result means that a win for Mayo against Wicklow in Aughrim next Saturday week, March 22nd, will see them joining London in the Division 3 final and playing their league hurling in Division 2 in 2026.
