Dublin made it back-to-back wins in Division 1 of the Allianz Football League at the expense of holders Derry tonight at Croke Park where it finished 3-20 to 2-12.
The Leinster champions broke away in the 22nd minute when Niall Scully’s goal put them 1-6 to 0-6 ahead and they’d send over the next four points via Scully, Sean Bugler, Evan Comerford and Brian Howard to lead by seven at the break.
Early points in resumption from Bugler, Luke Breathnach and Cian Murphy moved the capital men’s lead into double figures before Brendan Rogers pulled back a sorely needed goal for Paddy Tally’s side.
There wouldn’t be a revival from the Oak Leafers however, as Bugler pointed again before going off with an injury and a goal from Conor Tyrell saw the Dubs up by 11 points with 15 minutes left.
Lorcan O’Dell supplied his side’s third goal on the hour mark and it’d be backed up by two scores from Con O’Callaghan (one of them a two-pointer) either side of a Conor Glass consolation goal for Derry with five minutes remaining.
