Kildare crushed Leitrim with a 1-27 to 0-7 win in Ballinamore this afternoon for their third straight victory in Division 3 of the Allianz Football League.
The Lilywhites were in ruthless form from the start, running up a 0-12 to 0-0 lead before Alex Beirne bagged their goal in the 25th minute and they’d move towards a 1-17 to 0-1 half-time lead before winning out by 23 points in the end.
In Tullamore, Offaly saw off Antrim by 4-19 to 0-15 to ensure they sit on maximum points heading into next weekend’s fourth round of fixtures
Shane Tierney, Cillian Bourke and Keith O’Neill (2) bagged the goals for the Faithful men as they dealt Andy McEntee’s men their second loss of the Division 3 campaign.
Clare picked up their second win by edging out Fermanagh on a 1-17 to 1-15 scoreline at Cusack Park, Ennis.
Peter Keane’s side had a dream start thanks to Alan Sweeney’s early goal, but Fermanagh would find the net through Joe McDade in the 18th minute and, after having led by three at the break, the Banner men required late points from Brian McNamara and Emmet McMahon to get the job done.
Meanwhile, Laois remain in the promotion hunt after a comfortable 0-23 to 0-16 win against Sligo at Laois Hire O'Moore Park, where Mark Barry starred with 0-11 for the hosts.
