Down made it three wins from three in Division 2 of the Allianz Hurling League thanks to well timed goals against Donegal in Ballycran this afternoon.
It finished 3-17 to 0-17 at McKenna Park, where Chris Egan and Ronan Beatty (2) bagged the home side’s goals to help preserve their 100 per cent record in the campaign to date three rounds in.
In Garvaghey, Meath got their second win by defeating hosts Tyrone on a 2-22 to 2-14 scoreline.
The Royals had been 0-7 to 0-6 ahead when Nicky Potterton drilled in their first goal in the 25th minute and, despite the hosts bagging one of their own in the run up to half-time, Johnny Greville’s would regain the lead again after the change of ends and cement the win with Evan Fitzgerald’s goal late on.
The earlier game saw Kerry cruise to a 5-20 to 1-12 victory against Derry in Tralee.
Sean Brosnan (2), Oisin Maunsell (2) and Shane Conway were the players to find the net for the Kingdom as they got themselves up and running in Division 2 after lost out to Kildare last weekend.
