Offaly hurling kingpins Kilcormac/Killoughey have appointed Declan Laffan as their new senior manager.
The Loughmore/Castleiney clubman, who is a Tipperary senior hurling selector, takes over from Shane Hand who was surprisingly ousted before Christmas after leading K/K to back-to-back Offaly SHC titles as well as a Leinster club SHC final appearance against newly-crowned All-Ireland champions Na Fianna. Hand has since made a quick return to management with K/K’s neighbours Tullamore.
Laffan boasts an impressive track record with his home club and Clough-Ballacolla. He led Loughmore-Castleiney to their first Tipperary SHC and SFC double in 2013 before guiding Clough-Ballacolla to a three-in-a-row of Laois SHC titles between 2020 and ’22. He has been part of Tipp manager Liam Cahill’s backroom team ever since.
“Kilcormac/Killoughey GAA Club wish to announce that Declan Laffan is to be appointed as our Senior Hurling manager for 2025,” a club statement read.
“The Loughmore/Castleiney native has enjoyed success with his home club and Clough/Ballacolla in Laois and is currently a selector with the Tipperary Senior Hurling team. The remainder of the management team is to be finalised in the coming weeks. We wish Declan & the management team the very best of luck.
“We would like to express our appreciation to outgoing manager, Shane Hand and his management team for their work and success over the last three years.”
