Tyrone great Peter Canavan and former inter-county referee Maurice Deegan have joined the GAA’s Football Review Committee (FRC).
Both men were approved to join the group chaired by former Dublin boss Jim Gavin at this morning’s Central Council meeting at Croke Park.
Canavan, whose sons Darragh and Ruairí are set to line-out in tomorrow's All-Ireland club SFC final for Errigal Ciaran, and three-time All-Ireland SFC referee Deegan replace original committee members Michael Murphy and Malachy O’Rourke.
Murphy is poised to make his return to playing duty with Donegal against Kerry tomorrow week after having retired from the inter-county game two years ago, while O’Rourke has stepped away from the committee after succeeding Fergal Logan and Brian Dooher as Tyrone senior football manager in September gone past.
The new rule changes proposed by the FRC in November received strong backing from the GAA's Special Congress, with the rules themselves set to be on display for supporters next weekend as the 2025 Allianz Leagues get underway.
