Sarsfields manager Johnny Crowley heaped praise on super-sub Shane O’Regan after he fired the Cork representatives to a shock Munster club SHC final victory over Ballygunner.
Beaten by divisional side Imokilly in their county final, Sars’ blew the race for the Tommy Moore Cup wide open with the help of 2-3 from O’Regan.
“We’re just over the moon,” a delighted Crowley told reporters at FBD Semple Stadium.
“As a group of 47, 48, 50 people in our little bubble of management, players, logistics and everything, we genuinely believed we could win this game today.
“Shane is a brilliant guy and a really intelligent GAA player.
“Sometimes when he starts, he uses so much energy and sometimes a lot of energy turns into negativity and then all of a sudden, the game is 15, 20 minutes in, he’s not on the ball, and he’s trying so hard – no one would ever question his effort and the way he tries.
“He’s the one player who wants to get goals. He loves goals. He loves rattling the net. I’m thrilled for him. He’s a great young fella, a top-class lad.”
