Mark Bourke has been appointed manager of the Kerry senior ladies football team.
The Na Gaeil clubman takes over from Declan Quill and Darragh Long who stepped down as joint-managers after leading the Kingdom to their first Brendan Martin Cup success in 31 years at Galway's expense this year. It was a case of third time lucky after losing the previous two All-Ireland finals to Meath and Dublin respectively. The duo also delivered National League Division 1 and 2 titles during a successful tenure.
Bourke, whose appointment was rubberstamped on Friday night, previously managed the Castleisland Desmonds, St Senan’s, Na Gaeil and Milltown/Castlemaine men’s senior football teams. His backroom team will include Mike Tim O’Sullivan and Wayne Murphy.
“Kerry LGFA are delighted to announce that Mark Bourke will take the helm as our senior team manager. Mike Tim O'Sullivan and Wayne Murphy will join Mark as head coach and strength and conditioning coach respectively. We wish Mark and his backroom team the very best of luck for the upcoming season,” a county board statement read.
