Kildare native Kevin Larkin is the new Louth ladies football manager.

Larkin, who was part of the Carlow management team this year and is a teacher at Maynooth Community College, has been appointed for a three-year term as the Wee County seek to move on from the player heave against outgoing manager Paul Hanlon and his selectors Darren Clarke and Alan Page.

The trio were forced to step down after a dispute led to 29 players withdrawing their services this year. In spite of this, Louth reached the All-Ireland junior final, only to lose narrowly to Fermanagh.

Larkin’s appointment was ratified at a county board meeting on Thursday night.
