Castletown-Geoghegan manager Alan ‘Budda’ Mangan had nothing but praise for his players after their sensational victory over Thomastown.
The 6/1 underdogs threw the Leinster Club SHC race wide open with a scarcely-believable 1-25 to 1-14 quarter-final win over the Kilkenny kingpins at TEG Cusack Park to set up a mouth-watering midlands derby with Kilcormac/Killoughey at the same venue next Sunday.
"We were confident coming in. We thought we'd give them a rattle alright," the 2004 Leinster SFC winner with Westmeath told Clubber.
"It was a super performance. You wouldn't want to manage anyone else, they're a super group of lads. They thoroughly deserved this victory.
"We were massive underdogs, but it's all about workrate and using the ball well.
"No-one gave us a chance today only ourselves, we thought we had a chance here today. Thomastown are a phenomenal club, but I can't commend our club enough, from the top down to the players."
