Naas secured their sixth Kildare senior hurling championship title in-a-row by handing Maynooth a comprehensive 3-20 to 0-12 defeat at St Conleth’s Park this afternoon.
Jack Sheridan’s goal after just three minutes set the tone for the defending champions as they raced towards a commanding 1-13 to 0-7 half-time lead.
Two minutes into the restart and the sliotar would be in Maynooth’s net again after Brian Byrne found the time and space to squeeze a shot off.
Maynooth responded with a David Qualter free which would be cancelled out by Sheridan at the other end before Cathal Dowling all but settled the issue with the holders’ third goal in the 43rd minute.
Qualter, Cathal McCabe and Cormac Nolan struck points for Maynooth but they couldn’t get the goals they needed as Naas triumphed to their 11th Tony Carew Memorial Perpetual Cup.
