Clann Éireann secured their second Armagh senior football championship title in four years after handing Clan na Gael a 3-13 to 0-15 defeat at the Box-It Atheltic Grounds this evening.

As the scoreline suggests, goals were key in this Lurgan derby and Clann Eireann netted their first four minutes in via Emmet Magee and grabbed another late in the first-half through Jack Conlon to take in a 2-6 to 0-6 lead at the half.

Brendan O’Hagan and Stefan Campbell pulled back points for Clan na Gael but they couldn’t completely close the gap on their opponents, as a close range free from Campbell with five minutes remaining would only get them back within a goal.

His county colleague Conor Turbitt, who was in exceptional form, erased that point a minute later with one of his eighth of the day ahead of Rioghan Meehan making it 2-13 to 0-15 as the game moved towards the added minutes.

Shane McPartland sailed over a sorely needed score for Clan na Gael after that, but the Gerry Fagan Cup would be wrapped up when Conor McConville palmed in Clann Éireann’s third goal at the back post in the third minute of injury-time.
