St Loman’s will face The Downs in next month’s Westmeath senior football championship final following both teams’ respective wins this weekend.
Holders St Loman’s cruised to a 2-12 to 0-6 win against Tyrrellspass today at TEG Cusack Park, where Shane Dempsey and John Heslin (1-4) bagged the winners’ goals.
The Mullingar side had led by 0-7 to 0-3 at the halfway stage and a well taken goal by Dempsey two minutes into the restart made it a seven-point game before Heslin’s long-range free found the Tyrrellspass net late on.
On Saturday, The Downs edged a 1-8 to 0-10 victory over last year’s runners up Coralstown/Kinnegad.
Ian Martin’s goal on the eve of half-time proved key for the 10-time champions who now get set to face Loman’s in a repeat of the Lake County’s 2022 SFC decider.
