Greg McGonigle has stepped down after just one season in charge of the Armagh senior ladies football team.

The former Monaghan and Dublin manager guided the Orchard County to a maiden Lidl National League Division 1 success and to Ulster Championship glory. However, the loss of star forward Aimee Mackin to a cruciate ligament injury was a blow to Armagh's All-Ireland prospects and they bowed out at the semi-final stage to champions-elect Kerry.

Coaches Darnell Parkinson and Joe Feeney, who are both former Armagh footballers and were part of McGonigle’s backroom team, will now take over as joint-managers.

Armagh LGFA chaiperson Sinéad Reel said: "On behalf of the Armagh LGFA, we extend our sincere thanks to Greg McGonigle for his contribution to our Senior Team for the 2024 season.

"Winning the Division 1 NFL for the first time in our history and a return of the Ulster Senior Title, the management team of 2024 brought great joy to Armagh Ladies supporters all over the County. We wish Greg all the best in his future endeavours."
