Ballyhale Shamrocks’ hopes of regaining the Kilkenny SHC title have been boosted by the return of Joey Holden from his travels.

The former Kilkenny captain and All-Star defender, who retired from the inter-county scene in 2021, went travelling shortly after Shamrocks’ All-Ireland Club SHC final victory over Dunloy in January 2023. Holden’s performances earned him the Club Hurler of the Year Award.

He has now returned to the fold ahead of Shamrocks’ SHL Round 5 clash with county champions O’Loughlin Gaels in Callan on Saturday.
