There is sadness in Cork football circles following the passing of two-time All-Star defender Kevin Kehily at the age of 74.

The Newcestown man, who had been unwell for some time, won three Munster SFC medals during a senior inter-county career than spanned from 1969 to '84. He garnered All-Ireland MFC and U21FC honours in 1967 and '70 respectively, but missed out on the Rebels' Sam Maguire Cup triumph in 1973 due to study commitments.

At club level, Kevin won JFC and IFC as well as JHC medals with Newcestown. He also claimed two Cork SFC titles with divisional side Carbery.

In addition, he contributed to Cork's All-Ireland SHC three-in-a-row in the late 1970s as physical trainer and was part of the Bishopstown football management when they reached three consecutive county finals between 2002 and '04.
