Pairc Tailteann Navan

Noel Dempsey gave an update at Monday's Meath Co Board meeting on the Pairc Tailteann development with the stark message that the project would commence whenever they had the money. However he expected that the development would start in 2025 - it was originally scheduled for the second quarter of 2024 - with an 18 month construction period and be fully opened in 2027.

The pitch will be available during construction but not for intercounty matches. The development will consist of state of the art facilities, a 5,000 seater stand, modern dressing rooms, comprehensive medical and official rooms, as well as enhanced media facilities. When completed it will bring the capacity of the ground up to 20,000. The full cost of the redevelopment will be in the region of €24 million.

Funding already secured includes €8.5m from the Large Scale Infrastructure Fund, €2.8m from the Immigrant Investment Programme, €2.6m from Croke Park and €800,000 from Leinster Council.

A number of other investors from the Immigration Investment Programme have been secured and they are being processed at present though Dempsey stressed that this was a slow process.
