Furlong replaces O'Connor as Cork U20 manager

Cork have appointed Noel Furlong as their new U20 hurling manager.
Furlong, who led the Rebels to Munster and All-Ireland MHC success in 2021 and served as a senior selector the following year, has been appointed for a two-year term in succession to Ben O’Connor, who didn’t seek a further extension. Former county star O’Connor guided Cork to All-Ireland U20 glory last year. They reached the Munster final this year, only to lose to Tipperary in highly controversial circumstances.
A former dual Cork minor, Furlong has enjoyed success at club level as a player and manager, while he also managed UCC to Fitzgibbon Cup success in 2020, just before the Covid-19 outbreak.
Cork GAA chairman Pat Horgan said: “Cork GAA remain indebted to Ben and his team for a tremendous period of success. We look forward to working with him again in the future. We are delighted to welcome Noel on board. His record speaks for itself.”
