Donegal captured a record-extending fourth Nickey Rackard Cup title thanks to a comeback victory against Mayo at Croke Park this evening.
It finished 3-17 to 0-22 at headquarters, where goals from Josh Cronolly-McGee netted two goals for the Tir Chonaill men in the closing 10 minutes to help clinch his team’s return to the Christy Ring Cup.
Shane Boland and Eoin Delaney had helped Mayo towards a 0-12 to 0-8 lead at the halfway stage and the Westerners would extend it six after the change of ends.
However, a well timed goal from Ruairi Campbell got Mickey McCann’s men motoring and they’d battle in the closing quarter as Cronolly-McGee netted two goals in the space of a minute to surge his side in front before prior to Campbell’s late point ensuring the triumph.
