Tyrone chalked up their first win in Group 3 of the All-Ireland senior football championship by handing Clare a 3-15 to 0-10 defeat in Omagh this afternoon.
Having lost out to neighbours Donegal in the opening round of the group stages last weekend, the Red Hands overcame a sluggish start in this one by bagging two Niall Devlin goals in 10 minutes to move towards a 2-3 to 0-5 half-time lead.
The former county U20 captain registered his team’s first major in the 19th minute to surge them 1-2 to 0-3 in front and the corner-back would hit the net again six minutes before the break after being sent through by a Niall Morgan fist pass.
A couple of points from Emmett McMahon (free) and Aaron Griffin after the turnaround kept the visitors in contention, but their second loss of the group stages would be well and truly confirmed once Darragh Canavan raced through in injury-time and smashed to the foot of their net.
