A 67-year-old donned his boots for the first time in 20 years to ensure his club could fulfil a fixture last weekend.
Seanie 'The King' Monaghan lined out in defence for Offaly club Shamrocks in their Division 4 Hurling League game away to Seir Kieran. A former dual player with St Carthage’s and later with Shamrocks who were formed in 1994 following the amalgamation of St Carthage’s and Mucklagh, Seanie couldn’t save his beloved club from a heavy defeat, but his commitment to the cause didn't go unnoticed.
“Now there’s a great clubman! A club legend! The King!” the Rahan-parish club posted on Facebook.
