Wexford emphatically saw off Carlow by 2-36 to 1-13 at Netwatch Cullen Park this afternoon to join Dublin and Galway on five points in the Leinster SHC ahead of next weekend’s final round.

Conor McDonald’s goal in the opening minute set the tone for the Slaneysiders, who had 14 different scorers here, as they ensured there’d be no repeat of the shock result from last weekend that saw their opponents snatching a famous late draw against holders Kilkenny.

McDonald, Lee Chin and Rory O’Connor were all on-song as the visitors built up a 1-16 to 0-6 lead before the Barrowsiders netted a sorely needed goal through Conor Kehoe in the 25th minute.

The margin stood at 14 points come half-time and the points kept flowing for the Model men after the change of ends ahead of McDonald crashing in his second goal in the 62nd minute to bring his team’s tally up to 2-30.

Next up for Keith Rossiter’s team is a showdown with top-placed Kilkenny at Nowlan Park in seven days’ time, while Carlow travel to Antrim on the same day looking to avoid the drop back down to the Joe McDonagh Cup.
