Conor Whelan’s point in the fifth minute of injury-time earned Galway a 2-23 to 0-29 draw with Kilkenny in the second round of the Leinster senior hurling championship this afternoon.
The Salthill clash looked to be going the way of the Cats after the points of Jordan Molloy, John Donnelly (2) and TJ Reid saw them up by four with 10 minutes remaining.
However, Evan Niland’s accuracy kept the Tribesmen, who go goals from Gavin Lee and Brian Concannon in either half, very much in the hunt and the Clarinbridge clubman would puck over his last in the third minute of injury-time prior to Whelan having the final say to ensure the points were shared.
