Kerry stayed on course for a fourth Munster senior football championship title in-a-row after edging past Cork (0-18 to 1-12) in Killarney this afternoon.

The holders conceded a Paul Walsh goal just three minutes into this derby semi-final and, from there, Cork would hold a four-point lead with 10 minutes to go in the half after Matty Taylor’s point.

Sean O’Shea and David Clifford (2, 1 free) would trim the Kingdom’s deficit down to one (1-7 to 0-9) by half-time and, after Brian Hurley pointed a free in the first minute of the restart, scores from Dara Moynihan and O’Shea had it level come the 42nd minute.

Hurley nudged the Rebels back ahead but Jack O’Connor’s charges would hit the front thanks to points from Tom O’Sullivan and Clifford prior to Graham O’Sullivan doubling their advantage with 15 minutes to go.

From there, the hosts were able to see it out as O’Shea (2), O’Sullivan and Paul Geaney got vital points down the home stretch to set-up a decider date with either Waterford or Clare tomorrow fortnight.
