Kildare got their Christy Ring Cup campaign off to their perfect start today after defeating Sligo by 2-19 to 2-8 at Markievicz Park.
The hosts had settled into this opener in better fashion thanks to Gerard O'Kelly-Lynch’s goal, but a pair of goals from Cathal Dowling saw Kildare storm towards a 2-3 to 1-0 lead after just six minutes.
O’Kelly-Lynch would find the Lilywhites’ net again before half-time, however still trailed by 2-13 to 2-4 at the break and, after the change of ends, Jack Sheridan and James Burke kept the points coming for the Kildare.
The duo would combine for six points in the second-half which was more than enough to ensure the opening win for their side here.
