Armagh scored their third consecutive win in Division 2 of the Allianz Football League this afternoon by seeing off Kildare 2-16 to 0-8 at Netwatch Cullen Park.

The Orchard men registered their goals through Conor Turbitt and Rory Grugan in the opening 18 minutes and it saw them never looking back, having held a commanding 2-8 to 0-4 lead at the break.

Stefan Campbell stretched the Ulster side’s lead to 11 early in the restart and, while Kildare got points back from Darragh Kirwan and Niall Kelly, they were simply no match for their fired-up opponents.

The result sees Kieran McGeeney staying joint-top of the table with fellow promotion chasers Donegal, leading them by a point on score difference, while the Lilywhites remain without a point at the bottom alongside Cork.

In Navan, Meath recorded their first win of the league campaign against neighbours Louth.

It finished 1-11 to 1-9 at Pairc Tailteann, where the home side had trailed by the minimum at the break before falling four behind after the first five minutes of the resumption thanks to scores from Sam Mulroy and Ryan Burns (2).

Matthew Costello, Shane Walsh and Eoghan Frayne all sailed over scores to help get Colm O’Rourke’s men level. After Frayne nudged them ahead, the excellent Costello would smash in a superb goal on 70 minutes that sealed them the win as Tom Jackson’s goal at the death at the other end proved consolation for the Wee County.
