Leitrim needed to fight until the very end to edge Wexford by 3-7 to 2-9 in Carrick-on-Shannon and join Laois at the top of the Allianz FL Division 4 table.
A pair of Ryan O’Rourke goals moved the home side towards a 2-2 to 0-5 half-time lead, but Wexford would hit back with two goals of their own via Ben Brosnan and Niall Hughes after the turnaround.
Hughes’ goal with 10 minutes to go looked like steering the Slaneysiders towards a crucial win prior to Andy Moran’s men winning a penalty in the third minute of injury-time which O’Rourke dispatched for the hat-trick and both points along with it.
In Ruislip, substitute Cahir Healy nailed a late equaliser for London against Tipperary as it finished 1-8 to 0-11.
Tipp had been 0-6 to 0-3 ahead before Liam Gallagher’s goal three minutes before the break sent the sides in all square and, despite the visitors going three in front again after the change of ends, the Exiles were able to dig deep and claim their first point of the campaign.
