David Clifford came up trumps once again for Kerry tonight as they edged a 0-16 to 0-15 win over Mayo in Tralee to move on to four points in the Allianz Football League Division 1 table.
With 73 minutes on the clock, the visitors looked as though they were about to take a point from Austin Stack Park until the Kerry talisman’s brilliant intervention (watch it below).
The points of Sean O’Shea (free) and Jason Foley were what separated the sides at the halfway stage (0-7 to 0-5) and the Kingdom held a two-point cushion before stretching it to three via Paudie Clifford in the 58th minute.
Mayo would close the gap thanks to points from Ryan O’Donoghue (2) and Fergal Boland in the run up to injury-time, and looked like claiming a share of the spoils until this splendid effort from the two-time Footballer of the Year (watch it below).

“Cometh the moment, cometh the man” - it’s David Clifford who wins it at the death with a late score for the Kingdom.
