Wicklow football manager Oisín McConville has been handed a four-week suspension for an incident arising from last Sunday’s Allianz Football League loss to Sligo.

The Armagh great was suspended for “abusive language towards a referee” who, in this case, was Kieran Eanetta from Tyrone. McConville appealed the proposed sanction to the Central Hearings Committee who upheld it on Wednesday night.

The suspension means he won’t be on the sideline for the Garden County’s next two Division 3 games against Westmeath and Clare.

Meanwhile, last night's postponed O'Byrne Cup Shield final between Wicklow and Louth at Blessington has been rescheduled for Dowdallshill outside Dundalk at 12noon on Saturday (tomorrow).
