Lee Chin struck for 0-9 as Wexford overcame Galway by 1-21 to 0-16 at Netwatch Cullen Park this afternoon to claim their 18th Walsh Cup.

Keith Rossiter’s charges came with a push in the game’s second quarter that saw points from Chin (2), Cian Byrne and Richie Lawlor sailing over points that moved them towards a 0-11 to 0-8 half-time lead.

From there, the Slaneysiders wouldn’t look back as Jack O’Connor hit the first two points of the restart and more from Chin and James Byrne would soon have them seven clear.

Galway stayed in contention with scores from Kevin Cooney and Tom Monaghan prior to Seamus Casey’s goal in the 61st minute killing off their hopes and all but sealing the early season silverware for the Model men.
